Many of us parenting autistic children forget to take care of ourselves. For some parents, having little to no help is e haunting. We can't be our best for our children when we are exhausted, stressed, depressed, sad, etc.
Self care is taking time to breathe. For some of us who can get a massage, facial, exercise, shop or spend time with friends we can recharge and refresh. Unfortunately, there are some of us who can barely find time to shower without fear that their child may elope or be harmed in some way.
What does self care look like for the unsupported? It's time to get creative. Download a meditation app and try a 60 second breathing exercise. Throw on headphones and take a dance break in the middle of chaos drop it like it's hot! Step outside and breathe in fresh air. Take a walk.
Please find a moment for you to hopefully save your sanity. Sometimes a moment can create a change in perspective and bring you peace.
What do you do for self care?
